The Ticknor Society in Boston will begin accepting submissions starting March 1 for the Sixth Annual George and Anna Eliot Ticknor Book and Book Culture Collecting Prize, which was created to encourage and recognize those in New England who have been inspired to compile, curate, and own a book collection.

The Prize awards $1,000 to a collector of books, manuscripts,  and/or ephemera who resides in one of the six New England states of Connecticut,  Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. The award also includes an invitation to speak about the winning collection to The Ticknor Society and a complimentary one-year Ticknor Society membership. All other entrants will receive a complimentary year of membership in the Ticknor Society.

New in 2024, the society now welcomes submissions from collectors residing outside of New England whose collections focus primarily on books, manuscripts, and ephemera pertaining to New England from any period of its history.

Submissions can be emailed starting March 1. The deadline is April 15, 2024. If you have entered the competition previously, the society encourages you to reapply with the same or a different  submission. Learn more about the organization, the Prize, and how to enter here

Everyone is invited to join the society's 'Book Collector Roundtable' Zooms on February 21 and March  20, both at 7pm– 9pm ET. The society will share its plans and advice for preparing our submissions for the competition, plus show and tell about its collections. Register here.
