Winter auction that contains a broad range of fields of interest. Featuring an extensive
collection of Rabbinic Autograph Letters and Manuscripts, Letters from Chassidic leaders, a collection of Manuscript Pinkasim Communal Record-Books, and an especially strong showing of
Americana.

Additional Highlights of this sale include a manuscript of a prayer to be saved from a
cholera epidemic that swept through Germany in 1831 and a recounting of Dmitri Grigorivich Barsky, defense lawyer for Mendel Beilis, of his involvement in the infamous Beilis blood libel trial. Also featured is the Burial Society Board of the Community of Jassy (Yas), Romania and Cornelius Hazard’s 1671 work of history containing two famous plates with the likenesses of Shabtai Tzvi and Nathan of Gaza.

In the Fine Art and Judaica section, a half-length portrait of a bearded
rabbi by Gerbrand Van Dee Eeckhout (Lot 251, $10,000-15,000) makes a tremendous
impression.
