Bibliothèque Jean-François Chaponnière : Une collection Genevoise

Presenting a bibliophilic journey through the centuries, the library of Jean-François Chaponnière reflects his passion for French literature, 18th illustrated books, history, fine bindings, autographs and music. Le Siècle des Lumières occupies a prominent place, giving Voltaire and Rousseau the rank they deserve in a Geneva library. Among the highlights are a beautiful copy bound in red morocco of Buffon’s Natural History of birds with hand-coloured plates, and a very fine autograph manuscript by Mozart of two complete dances for orchestra.
