Sotheby’s is honored to present The Unburnable Book, an auction of a single fireproof edition of The Handmaid’s Tale benefitting PEN America.
This one-of-one limited-edition of the Margaret Atwood classic was created using entirely fireproof materials. It is intended to serve as a powerful symbol against censorship and a reminder of the necessity of protecting vital stories.
This unique work has been generously donated by Penguin Random House. Proceeds from The Unburnable Book will benefit PEN America.
Please note that while this auction is hosted on Sothebys.com, it is being administered by Penguin Random House and PEN America, and all post-sale matters (inclusive of invoicing and property shipment) will be coordinated by PEN.
