The Independent Online Booksellers Association (IOBA) is pleased to announce its newly elected Board of Directors for 2013: President, Chris Volk of; Vice President, Jonathan Smalter of Yesterday’s Muse Books; Treasurer, David Friedman of Barner Books; and Secretary, Mark Lambert of Cereal City Books.  The Members at Large include Bruce Bell of Double-B-Books Ltd., Robert Stenzel of 4Shadows Books, Kara McLaughlin of Little Sages Books, Rock Toews of Back Creek Books, Gabe Konrad  of Bay Leaf Used and Rare Books, and Zhenya Dzhavgova of ZH Books.

This new, energized board is geared up for a productive year that will include a re-launch of The Standard, IOBA’s online journal, an increased presence in the bookselling community, and more benefits for its members. The board has a unified vision of what the IOBA is, as stated by new president Chris Volk:  “I see the IOBA as a group of booksellers, small and large, covering the entire spectrum of online bookselling - but unified in the fact that they care about the future of bookselling and that they believe buyers are entitled to an honest description of what they are purchasing sight unseen.  IOBA exists to support these sellers.”

IOBA is an international trade organization for internet booksellers whose 300+ members represent twelve countries on five continents.  IOBA offers opportunities for continuing education, mentoring, scholarships, and provides a forum to network with colleagues and discuss issues that affect us all, worldwide - all with the goal of making the internet a better, safer place to sell, and buy, books.  When you join IOBA, you are strengthening the ranks of a trade association that preserves traditional bookselling standards and traditions while embracing new technologies.
