Harry Potter Edition Never Commercially Available: Rare Book of the Week

Nimbus

Chloe Esslemont's copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in its traycase

Nimbus Rare Books is offering one of only 15 specially-bound copies of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone presented by J. K. Rowling to young readers in 2012 as part of the 15th anniversary celebrations for the book.

The winners were selected by the book's publishers Bloomsbury through a competition and this particular copy has remained with its recipient Chloe Esslemont from Cumbria ever since. Rowling personally inscribed the book "To Chloe" in blue ink. This edition was never available for commercial purchase but has it's own unique ISBN designated specifically for the limited run.

Bound in red leather with gilt edges, gold embossing featuring the Hogwarts crest, and bearing J.K. Rowling's integrated signature on both cover and spine, it is being offered at £29,500 with the original competition entry - an imaginative folding document inspired by the series'  Marauder's Map - and in a bespoke quarter-leather traycase. Stored in the winner's attic for years, Nimbus describe it as in pristine, unread condition since its presentation in 2012.
