The Photography Show Returns
Rosalind Fox Solomon by Jonno Rattman
The latest iteration of The Photography Show presented by The Association of International Photography Art Dealers (AIPAD) opens today and runs through April 26 at the Park Avenue Armory in New York.
Featuring exhibitors from around the world, the fair again deepens the understanding of photography’s history while spotlighting some of the finest examples of contemporary experimentation.
AIPAD member gallery Alta will present Free Air and Beyond, a celebration of the enduring collaboration between the world renowned publisher Steidl and Robert Frank. At the heart of the exhibition is a curated selection of Frank's pioneering photographs, shown in dialogue with works by photographer Clark Winter from his Steidl book Free Air, alongside a Steidl presentation structured around Frank's book Story Lines.
Elsewhere, Dear Dave magazine and its publisher Stephen Frailey will continue hosting Influence, its popular series of talks with photographers and industry leaders, while for the first time the Aperture Portfolio Prize will be awarded at the fair, with all five finalists participating in a group exhibition curated by Aperture editors at The Photography Show as well as an AIPAD Talks program about the prize.
NYC Salt students will also photograph gallerists, exhibitors, photographers and visitors, capturing full-body portraits inspired by the style of Irving Penn’s corner portraits and Richard Avedon’s mural portraiture.
Other highlights include:
- a panel on photographic innovation and intervention throughout the history of lens-based art
- an exhibition of photographs from the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) Collection curated with 2026 AIPAD Award Winner Deborah Willis
- Proyecto CALLE's exhibition of work from its ongoing project providing houseless men in Buenos Aires with a camera to record detheir experiences in the city
