Artists’ Books Take Centre Stage at 2024 NY Art Book Fair

NY Art Book Fair

Printed Matter's 2024 NY Art Book Fair will run April 25–28 celebrating contemporary artists’ books and the medium’s history. The fair will feature a wide range of artists and collectives, small presses, institutions, galleries, antiquarian booksellers, and distributors.

Established in 2006, NYABF is an important gathering for artists’ book publishers to distribute their work, connect with broad audiences, and nurture new and longstanding relationships. It offers visitors the chance to discover artists’ books at the fair's location at 548 W. 22nd St, New York.

Program highlights include:

  • The Classroom: the  long-running program which provides space for artists, writers, designers, and publishers to highlight new releases at NYABF and fosters dialogue around important themes in artists’ book publishing
  • Exhibitor Projects: special publication-focused projects presented by select fair exhibitors, including a geopolitical gardening project by Passenger Pigeon Press and friends, an exhibition of multidisciplinary artists’ books by Three Star Books, an exploration of collaborative publishing among five Italian publishers in Image Ecology, an installation of Lilit with talismans, spells, and drawings in the stairwell by Tamar Ettun, and a rooftop publishing experiment with Werkplaats Typografie.
  • Exhibitor Grants and Awards: for NYABF 2024, Printed Matter has announced the Jason Polan Award, a new opportunity honoring the legacy of Jason Polan (1982-2020), a longtime exhibitor at the NY Art Book Fair
