Library of Congress Prize for American Fiction to be Awarded to Richard Ford

Washington, D.C. -- Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden announced today that Richard Ford, author of Independence Day – the first novel to win both the Pulitzer Prize and the PEN/Faulkner Award – will receive the Library of Congress Prize for American Fiction during the 2019 Library of Congress National Book Festival on Aug. 31.

2019 New England Society Book Awards Announced

New York City – The New England Society in the City of New York (NES) is pleased to announce the winners for the 2019 New England Society Book Awards, which honors books of merit that celebrate New England and its culture. The winning authors were announced last night at the annual Founders’ Day celebration and will be honored at a special event on June 26 at the National Arts Club, New York.

WHAT: The New England Society in the City of New York (NES) is pleased to announce the finalists, or the “shortlist,” for the 2019 New England Society Book Awards, which recognize books of merit that celebrate New England and its culture. The NES Book Awards are presented annually to authors of books published in the previous year. Following tradition, the winning authors will be selected from this shortlist and announced to the membership at the annual Founders’ Day Celebration on May 15.

Two Editions from the Folio Society Shortlisted for the 2017 V&A Illustration Awards

The Folio Society is proud to announce that two artists shortlisted for this year’s V&A Illustration Awards have been nominated for their work on Folio editions. The nominations for these prestigious awards come in two different categories - Book Illustration and Book Cover. 

?? Anna and Elena Balbusso have been nominated in the Book Illustration category for their work on Folio’s stunning new gift edition of Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare. 

For any collectors of Booker Prize winners out there, you will soon have a new gap to fill in your collection.  Yesterday, the Booker Prize committee announced a long-list for a Lost Booker prize award.  The Lost Booker will compensate for a 1971 rule change which left a number of important 1970 publications out of the running.  Previous to 1971, the Booker prize was awarded retrospectively to a book published in the previous year.  In 1971 the rules shifted and the Booker began to be awarded to a book published in the same year.
