New York – Vintage Posters are on bright and bold display in a summer sale on Wednesday, August 7 at Swann Galleries. The auction brings to market the house’s most extensive selection of vintage automobile advertisements to date, rare examples of sports posters, along with premier examples of wartime and political propaganda, as well as promotional images for a variety of performing arts.

Waverly Rare Books’ July 18 Auction Features Modern & Contemporary Prints and Posters

Falls Church, VA – Waverly Rare Books, a division of Quinn’s Auction Galleries, will host a Thursday, July 18 sale featuring outstanding modern and contemporary prints and posters from the 19th century to the present day. Artists represented include Pablo Picasso, Frances Gearhart, Walter Henry Williams, Mary Bauermeister, Leroy Neiman, Werner Drewes and Kathleen Spagnolo, among many others. Magic Collection of Jim Rawlins II Casts Its Spell at Potter & Potter

Chicago — Potter and Potter's early summer auction, featuring the second installment of rarities from the Jim Rawlins collection, offered nonstop surprises and excitement from start to finish. After the hammer fell for the last time, 58 lots realized between $1,000-5,000; 7 lots realized between $5,001-$9,999; and 1 lot broke the five-figure mark. Prices noted include the company's 20% buyer's premium.

Ben Shahn Led Swann’s American Art Sale

New York — Swann Galleries continued the spring 2019 season with a sale of American Art on June 13, which boasted three artist records.

American Modernists were standouts in the sale with two of the three records: Attilio Salemme’s 1945 oil on canvas painting Rivalry, at $21,250, and Nautical Composition with an Anchor, oil on board, by Joseph Lambert Cain, at $11,250. Suzy Frelinghuysen’s Cubist-inspired oil and collage work, Act Three, 1942 reached $40,000, and Esphyr Slobodkina’s Abstract Composition, gouache on board, circa 1940s earned $8,450.
