Fine Books & Collections Appoints New Editor
Fine Books & Collections is pleased to announce that Rebecca Rego Barry has been appointed the new editor of the magazine and web site. Rebecca begins her editorship with the November issue, and she will also be responsible for managing the Fine Books Blog. Rebecca is a long-time contributor to Fine Books & Collections, both online and in print.
Since graduating from Syracuse University with a dual bachelor’s degree in English and journalism, Rebecca has worked with books in a variety of ways. She began her career as a publishing assistant at Simon & Schuster in New York. She then spent a year working for Book Magazine before deciding to go to graduate school.
At Drew University, she earned a master’s degree in book history, which led her happily into a job in the preservation department of Drew’s library. By the end of her four years there, she was in charge of the Drew University Archives.
Rebecca has also been a freelance writer for more than a decade. In addition to her articles for Fine Books & Collections, her writing has appeared in Book History, Publishers Weekly, ForeWord, Book Magazine, American Libraries, Preservation, New York House and the Albany Times-Union.
When not writing, Rebecca counts herself as an avid reader. Some of her favorite authors are A.S. Byatt, Nicholson Baker, H.D. Thoreau, José Saramago, Dorothy Parker, Sarah Vowell and Alberto Manguel. She often lends her editorial talents to her husband’s audiobook company, Silver Hollow Audio. Rebecca and her family live in New York’s Hudson Valley.
