Book, Art and Ephemera Auction at National Book Auctions Nov. 9

ITHACA, NY—National Book Auctions, located in Ithaca, NY, announces the launch of their next auction catalog.

Book, Art and Ephemera Auction—Munter, Medical, Rochester, etc.

This catalog features rare, antique and decorative books as well as select additions of ephemera, artwork and collectibles.  The art pieces are led by original works by Gabriele Munter and a large Tamayo oil and sand painting.

Antique and rare books in this catalog feature numerous titles.  Among the earliest examples are the 1656 printing of Lloyd's "The Legend of Captaine Jones," "Sandy's Travells Containing an History of the Original and Present State of the Turkish Empire," printed in 1670 and retaining the original engravings, and a 1640 printing of "Biblia Sacra."  Other scarce titles include the 1883 printing of Street's "Che! Wah! Wah! Or the Modern Montezumas in Mexico," with photographs, woodcuts, a fold-out map and housed in a decorative binding, 13 volumes of "The Annals of Sporting and Fancy Gazette" from the 1820's, featuring hand-colored plates and fold-out maps, along with the 1851 first edition of Morgan's "League of the Ho-De'-No-Sau-Nee or Iroquois," produced with plates and a fold-out map.

Several pleasing collections will also be featured.  A fine selection of early Americana titles relating to the Upstate New York region, concentrating on Rochester, will be offered including city directories dating back to 1827 and titles such as "Art Work of Rochester Published in Nine Parts," printed in 1913.  A collection of early medical writings includes titles such as an association copy of the 1823 printing of Cooper's "A Treatise on Dislocations and on Fractures of the Joints," and four 1889 first edition volumes of "Wood's Medical and Surgical Monographs."   We are continuing our work with a large collection of author-signed modern and recent literature and this catalog includes group lots and individual titles such as the 1936 first edition of "A Further Range," signed by Robert Frost.  Additional collections include antique children's books, Civil War, Native American Indian, Quakers, Americana, cartography, decorative antique sets, and much more.

Found throughout this catalog are offerings of artwork, ephemera and other collectibles.  The art lots include two original paintings by Gabriele Munter and a large painting attributed to Rufino Tamayo.  Also being offered is an original 1937 lengthy personal letter from George Grosz to Marshall Glasier.  Additional ephemera lots include antique postcards, magazines, chromolithographs, stamps, travel-related, original antique correspondence, antique photographs, and other genres.
