Rare Books, Ephemera & Artwork at National Book Auctions June 29

ITHACA, NY—National Book Auctions, located in Ithaca, NY, announces the launch of their next auction catalog.

This catalog features rare, antique and decorative books as well as select additions of ephemera and artwork. The artwork is led by two original paintings credited to Jean-Michel Basquiat and Lyubov Popova.  Highlighted is our third session from an impressive collection of Civil War and American West writings, along with a large collection of author-signed modern fiction.

Antique and rare books in this catalog feature numerous titles.  Among the earliest examples are the Thomas Guarin imprints of "Biblia Sacra Veteris et Novi Testamenti Secundum Editionem Vulgatam," published over 1590 and 1591 in vellum with woodcuts and fold-out maps by Tobias Stimmer, the 1591 first edition of Campana's "Arbori delle Famiglie Regali di Spagna," and the 1614 printing of Gazet's "L'Histoire Ecclesiastique du Pays-Bas."  Other scarce titles include special editions and antique sets such as a copy of "Expedicion y Desembarco del 'Granma'," signed by Fidel Castro, a 1903 first state of Jack London's "The Call of the Wild," with a very rare original prospectus laid-in, and the 1895 first edition of Paul Lawrence Dunbar's "Majors and Minors Poems."  Additional antique and collectible titles relate to the history of Pennsylvania, Quakers, travel & polar exploration, architecture, music, art history, textiles & costume, theology and other scholarly studies.

Several pleasing collections will also be featured.  A fine private library of author-signed modern fiction includes titles by Dan Brown, William Goldman, Sue Grafton, Joyce Carol Oates, Arthur C. Clarke, John Dunning, Ed McBain, James Lee Burke, Robin Cook, Clive Cussler, and many others.  Additional private collections include magic & mysticism, deluxe leather-bound editions, Civil War history, history of the American West and Native American Indians, antique children's titles, and various other topics.

Found throughout this catalog are offerings of artwork, ephemera and other collectibles.  Important original artworks include paintings attributed to Jean-Michel Basquiat and Lyubov Popova, along with select prints and antique lithographs and engravings.  Ephemera lots date back to the 1600's and include a wide variety of themes and items such as an original document signed by U. S. Grant, Cuban slavery-related, postcards, greeting cards, magazines, chromolithographs, travel-related, original antique correspondence, antique photographs, and other genres.   Collectibles include items such as an antique L.C. Smith typewriter, collectible glass & ceramics and an impressive Waterford crystal chandelier.
