New Book on Literary America Supports American Writers Museum

(CHICAGO — October 15, 2013) Holiday shoppers looking to delight the booklovers in their lives can purchase A Journey Through Literary America and support the American Writers Museum Foundation with their gift.

The 304-page book ($35, Val De Grace Books) by author Thomas Hummel and photographer Tamra Dempsey explores the links between more than two dozen great American writers and the landscapes that inspired them. Lushly illustrated and beautifully designed, the book is as much of a pleasure to look at as it is to read. Among the authors featured are Willa Cather, John Steinbeck, Toni Morrison, Ernest Hemingway, Philip Roth, John Updike, Langston Hughes, Flannery O'Connor, and other literary notables.

There are two ways to support the American Writers Museum through your purchase of A Journey Through Literary America. Buy the book directly through the book's website at www.literaryamerica.net and 50 percent of the proceeds will go directly to support the museum foundation's fundraising efforts. Or, become a museum Chapter One Patron by donating $100 directly to the American Writers Museum Foundation and receive the book as a complimentary gift, along with a museum bookmark and a listing on the museum's website as a contributor.

The American Writers Museum is targeted to open in Chicago in 2015. It will be the first national museum in the United States dedicated to engaging the public in celebrating American writers and exploring their influence on our history, our identity, our culture and our daily lives. Learn more and read the museum's design plan at www.americanwritersmuseum.org.
