This year Russia is celebrating a grand jubilee in its history—four hundred years since Mikhail Romanov, the first tsar of the Romanov dynasty, ascended to the throne. The world has changed dramatically since the grand festivities of 300th anniversary held during the reign of Nicholas II, the last Russian tsar. One century later we are still assessing the Romanovs’ legacy and their role in the history.

In the framework of the Russian Art Week in London (November 22-29) Shapero Rare Books are proud to present an exhibition of rare books, prints and documents related to the imperial dynasty in their central London premises. The displayed collection will comprise important Russian and Western works related to the reign of the Romanov and their impact on Russia’s historical development, as well as exceptional items from various imperial libraries, including Tsarskoe Selo.
