Contents of French Antiquarian Bookshop for Sale

Courtesy of Catawiki

Amsterdam — Catawiki is excited to offer, for the first time, the stock of an entire bookshop in a single auction.

The owner, based in the South of France, retired, and closed his doors about 15 years ago. Now his heirs have decided it is time to sell his stock.

The entire shop, comprising about 13,000 items, has been divided into 32 lots. Each is based on a specific subject, and with several “lead items” as well as a large number of other books. The books are from the 17th to the 20th century with many topics, such as literature, Science, Travel, Architecture etc., a good stock of illustrated books, rare books with plates. A wonderful opportunity to begin a new collection, or to start your own small book business. The reserves have been set to be less than the value of the ‘lead items.’

The auction will be online through Friday 30th April 2021 at 18:01 UTC and will be visible at the following link: https://www.catawiki.com/a/480899

Marc Harrison, category manager Books, Manuscripts & Cartography at Catawiki: “With a large quantity of books, and the estimate based only on the top few items in each lot, there are bound to be pleasant surprises and “sleepers” amongst the boxes in each lot.”

“It is very exciting to offer a whole shop stock for sale, in Montauban, near Toulouse, and not far from the French “book village” Montolieu in the South of France, this would be a wonderful opportunity for someone to start their own small book business, or to refresh the stock of an existing business. “
