This week the book world celebrated the centenary of James Joyce’s controversial novel, Ulysses. In conjunction with Rare Books LA, which opens today, a virtual panel discussion reflecting on “The Novel of the Century” was held; in case you missed it, it has been uploaded to YouTube and is available to watch.

No doubt interest in Ulysses will continue for the weeks and months ahead, both in notable exhibitions at the Ransom Center and the Huntington Library and at the CA International Antiquarian Book Fair in Oakland, which opens on February 11, where Peter Harrington will showcase a first edition, first printing of Ulysses, one of 150 large paper copies printed on vergé d’Arches and priced at £57,500 ($78,000).
