Skinner Announces Spring Gentleman’s Auction Online Auction Opens May 28

BOSTON, Massachusetts—May 26, 2015—Timed to mark the rites of spring, including Father’s Day and graduation, and curated to pique the interest of all gentlemen, this online-only auction opens on Thursday, May 28th at 10 A.M. ET and runs until Monday, June 8th, with the first lots closing at 4 P.M. ET.

Luxury Travel & Jewelry

For globe-trotting gentlemen preferring to travel in style there is no shortage of luxury travel and men’s jewelry items to choose from: including an American sterling silver set, which contains a Tiffany yo-yo engraved High Yield (Lot 1006, Estimate $800-$1,200); two Louis Vuitton Monogram Suitcases, complete with brass hardware, natural cowhide leather trim and red interior label (Lot 1007 & Lot 1008, Estimate $400-$600 each); a 14 karat gold Omega open-faced pocket watch (Lot 1002, Estimate $300-$500); and two 14 karat gold watch chains (Lot 1003, Estimate $400-$600).

Nautical Arts & Antiques

A series of seafaring-themed lots begins with a C. Plath 7-inch sextant, Hamburg, Germany with a pierced frame and inset silvered brass scale, complete with a mahogany box and manual (Lot 1013, Estimate $400-$600). Also available is a 19th century Hill & Price 8-inch anodized brass sextant engraved with Hill & Price Bristol & Cardiff, all pieces housed in a fitted dovetailed mahogany case and brass carrying handle (Lot 1015, Estimate $200-$400).

Bring the nostalgic views of a nautical New England summer indoors with various pieces of art including a framed John Wharf watercolor entitled Wave Upon a Shoal (Lot 1018, Estimate $800-$1,200).

All-American Memorabilia

Memorabilia of the champions includes signed items from New England Patriots Super Bowl teams (Lot 1054, Estimate $2,000-$2,500); a 1914 Boston Braves World Champion Leather pillow-top (Lot 1050, Estimate $3,000-$5,000); and a signed photo of Notre Dame’s Four Horsemen of 1914 (Lot 1052, Estimate $400-$600) among others.

A beguiling group of Marilyn Monroe ephemera, includes the famed Marilyn centerfold in the debut issue of Playboy - volume one, number one, 1953 (Lot 1042, Estimate $1,200-$1,800) and four framed Marilyn Monroe calendars (Lots 1044-1047, Estimates $200-$300 each).

Gentlemen’s Lounge

To refine the Gentleman’s refuge, a miniature case of 44 drawers with brass pulls (Lot 1005, Estimate $600-$800); a Nathaniel Hill two and a half inch pocket globe c. 1754 illustrating the northwest portion of America as “unknown parts” housed in a custom glass case (Lot 1001, Estimate $4,000-$6,000); and a 19th century Eagle Pommel sword and scabbard with foliate designs and panoply of arms measuring 35 inches overall (Lot 1021, Estimate $300-$500). Also available are two aviator inspired brown leather lounge chairs and an ottoman (Lot 1037, Estimate $1,000-$1,500).

Stock the bar with mixed Domaine de la Voute Grand Fine Champagne Cognac 1er Grand Cru de Cognac  (Lot 1025, Estimate $500-$700); Martell Medallion VSOP Cognac in original bottling (Lot 1026, Estimate $150-$200); five bottles of mixed Courvoisier Cognac , bottled for the United Kingdom market (Lot 1027, Estimate $300-$400); three Crocodile skin and glass flasks with sterling silver mounts (Lot 1030, Estimate $300-$500); six Kirk & Son sterling silver cordials and Fisher sterling silver tray (Lot 1032, Estimate $250-$350); and of course something for the smoker with a Ronson Mastercase brushed metal cigarette case with lighter element, believed to have been property of Humphrey Bogart, engraved with “HB” (Lot 1041, Estimate $800-$1,200).
